What is MBSR?

MBSR - Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction - was developed by molecular biologist Prof. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Stress Reduction Clinic of the University of Massachusetts, USA in 1979. It is an established, certified and scientifically researched 8-week program in which we learn to perceive our experienced stress and suffering din a new way and to reduce our stress reactions through mindfulness practice.

For this purpose, MBSR offers various methods and techniques of meditation as well as a different perspective on the problems experienced, regardless of what caused them: be it stress at work, in the family, through illness or loss, difficult relationships or one's own expectations of oneself. MBSR is a practical approach to train attention and focus, combined with approaches from modern psychology and stress research. A combination of meditation, body awareness, movement and the exploration of one's own behavior, thinking, feeling and action patterns is practiced. The training includes the perception of bodily sensations, internal states, thoughts, emotions and impulses.

In addition, it is a positive and deeply honest view of life itself. It can help us reduce stress, anxiety and suffering and increase our well-being and happiness. For more than 40 years, MBSR courses have been successfully used worldwide in clinical, educational and social fields.
